IHMSA is a rapidly growing sport in South Carolina, and this site is a central location to keep everyone informed about all the growth and changes.

Membership is up in the state as we offer a sport that is ideal for the local handgun hunter. SC is a great place for deer hunting, and hunters benefit from practicing year round with full power hunting handguns at IHMSA matches. When you can regularly hit a ram at 200 meters, you are all set to take a deer at 100 yards or less.

IHMSA is a sport for the whole family. All of the SC clubs offer Small Bore silhouette shooting which is the perfect way for a junior shooter to start. Even the youngest of kids find the lighter weight & low recoil of a .22 Long Rifle handgun very manageable, and the falling targets give immediate satisfaction.

The Coach/Spotter makes it possible for a new shooter to attend a match and shoot an entry right away. You can bring your own spotter or ask the match director to pair you up with someone.

All IHMSA events are shot from a stationary position making IHMSA one of the safest possible match formats. Match Directors will strictly enforce safety rules. Both eye & ear protection are required at all matches.

The past few years produced a three-fold growth of our local clubs as two of the largest clubs in the state joined us in hosting IHMSA matches. 2001 presents a challenge; we want to grow a little more but not too much. There are still opportunities for new matches to start in some areas of the state. The best opportunity would be in Upstate.
